If you noticed Korean actors and actresses, you probably noticed how flawless their skin is. This is because Koreans believe that a skin should have a great investment. As of today, many have been hooked with the 10 step Korean skincare. Yes, 10. It may be too much for us who are used to three steps (cleansing, toning, moisturizing) but Koreans and the people who tried this lengthy skincare have proved its miraculous effects.
If you’re interested in joining this beauty trend, here’s our guide along with products with the best reviews!
STEP 1: CLEANSING (part 1)
For Koreans, they believe that a single cleansing routine isn’t enough. Washing your face twice with two different products is the key to removing EVERYTHING – from makeup to dirt and impurities. The first cleanser should be oil based this will remove even the strongest water proof mascara you own.
STEP 2: CLEANSING (part 2)
The water based cleanser will remove the residue from your previous oil cleanse and other remaining dirt.
STEP 3: EXFOLIATE
The third step which is exfoliation doesn’t have to be done daily. It’s okay to do it once or twice a week. Exfoliating is important to remove dead skin cells and this will prepare your skin for the other products you’re about to put.
STEP 4: TONER
Time to hydrate your skin. In applying toner, you will not need any cotton pads. Just sprinkle the products into your hands and tap directly onto your face until your skin absorbs it.
STEP 5: ESSENCE
Meet the heart of Korean skincare. “A bit dual purpose, the essence is a kind of toner and serum hybrid made for hydrating and aiding skin repair and cell turnover.” – sokoglam
STEP 6: SEBUMS, BOOSTERS, etc
After the essence, you will now apply other treatment products. This will keep your pores refined, prevent wrinkles and brighten your skin.
STEP 7: SHEET MASK
“If essence is the heart of a Korean skin care routine, the sheet mask is its soul. It’s a quiet meditative, skin-nourishing ritual that imparts maximum treatment into your skin while you chill out for 15-20 minutes, looking a bit like a damp ghost.” – sokoglam
STEP 8: EYE CREAM
The most delicate skin on your face is around your eyes. An eye cream will keep it hydrated and protected. Never rub when you apply eye cream, just use your ring finger to gently tap around your eye.
STEP 9: MOISTURIZER
“Morning and evening, pat a moisturizer all over face and neck to keep skin protected and hydrated, sealing in all the work from your other steps.”
STEP 10: SPF
The last step is when you go out. SPF is very important whether the sun is out or not.
After you religiously follow this skincare routine for a month, you will see the great changes on your skin!
