Here, you’ll find some advice on how not to stress over your next party and make sure that everything goes smoothly. From prep to take off, here are some of the things you’ll need to stay sane and throw successful Thanksgiving and Christmas parties.
1. Plan ahead.
Yes, it’s pretty simple but a lot of planning way ahead of time will save you from last minute disasters. Grab your computer and whip up a shared spreadsheet on Google Docs or wherever you find it easy to collaborate with your friends and family. On your end, invest in a notebook that can hold lots of notes and reminders so you can jot down lists, thoughts, and ideas anywhere you are. Here are some of our favorites.

2. Simplify your menu.
The key in entertaining is serving up recipes you’ve already perfected, not one that you’re trying out for the first time. To make things even easier, opt for one-pot recipes that won’t require you to constantly stay in the kitchen and miss out on all the fun and chatter. For prep time, make sure you have a set of knives and other tools that are already sharpened and are in tip top shape as to not get in the way or cause delays. A few days in advance, lay out everything you’ll need in one section of the kitchen so you’ll just grab and go on the day itself.

3. Go for ready made desserts.
To make things easier when hosting dinner, grab some ready made desserts and sweet treats that you can easily serve. It’s a great way to take off the burden but at the same time keep the standards high when it comes to taste. Here are some dessert recommendations.

4. Set the dinner table way ahead of time.
If you prefer to set it the night before, do so! It’ll let you have more time to prepare in the kitchen and focus on prepping the food.
