The Coronavirus pandemic has dampened the mood when it comes to holidays this year, with gatherings highly discouraged to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Such high risk activities include traditional trick-or-treating in which candies and treats are directly handed to kids or are given to them from trunks of cars in a parking lot, attending crowded costume parties held indoors, exploring an indoor haunted house in which people may be crowding, and traveling to rural festivals outside of your community. CDC also cited some moderate risk activities, such as an open-air costume parade, a one-way trick-or-treating where kids and families just grab their treats and go, an outdoor Halloween movie night, and visiting pumpkin orchards wherein people are physically and socially distant and are wearing protective face masks and constantly sanitize their hands. Keep in mind that these medium risk activities must all be executed while physically and socially distancing from others. Finally, low risk activities are the ones that are encouraged this year, such as carving and decorating pumpkins with the family you’ve been isolated with, a Halloween movie night in your home with people you live with, and a virtual Halloween contest, to name a few.
Throughout all of these activities, it’s important to keep in mind that we must always wear cloth face masks to help prevent spreading the virus to the people we care about.
